Siliguri: In our fight against drugs, it is not only the notorious peddlers and dealers that we have arrested, but we have also focused on bringing youngsters out of consuming drugs. We are happy to share one such promising story of Akash.
Akash was brought up by a good samaritan, foster mother. Akash was a youngster with many hopes and aspirations but everything turned dark when he started taking drugs some 4 years back. All hopes turned into despair, all brightness was taken over by darkness. Shunned by society and almost shunned by his foster family, Akash was going to be a story lost in the dark alleys of drug addiction.
However, as it is said, a mother is the shadow of God. Akash’s foster mother saw this Anti-Drugs Campaign of Siliguri Police Commissionerate. She called on the helpline number 9832319154. The SOG team, headed by our competent SI Mr. Rash Behari Saha, responded and provided every help to the despaired, yet courageous mother to bring her son out of drugs. Akash was shifted to a rehab and in 4 months he is back to normal life.
Police also helped him to find a job at a flower shop. Today, the smiles of the mother and the son are the brightest colors we can think of. Akash is not a name anymore. He is the beacon of hope for many youngsters of Siliguri. Siliguri Metropolitan Police is committed to making the City Drugs Free.
