Raipur: A Special Task Force (STF) Jawan was injured in an encounter between the Naxals and the security personal on the day of election which was on Thursday, in Bastar the police said. Special Director General of Police (Naxal Ops) Girdhari Nayak said the Naxals attacked the team of security personal in the evening around 4.20pm when the Security forces were out on an area domination-cum-search operation in a forest near a helipad in the Orchha area. While the security forces were cleaning the helipad, the Naxal group started firing at them which ensured a gun battle. The Naxals fled the spot but The STF Constable Mr. Hriday Ram Sahu sustained injuries in the gunfight. Mr. Girdhari Nayak said on conducting a search operation at the encounter spot the body of a male Maoist cadre was recovered. They also recovered a country-made pistol, a knife and Naxal-related materials, which also included other things from the site, which is around 300km from state capital Raipur. The identity of the dead Naxal is yet to be found. The patrolling team has returned to the Orchha police station and the injured Jawan is undergoing treatment at a local hospital and is said to be out of danger. ]]>
