Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: The 80th Independence Day celebrations were held grandly under the aegis of the Srikakulam District Police, showcasing the department’s dedication, discipline, and commitment to public service.
State Agriculture Minister Sri Kinjarapu Atchannaidu hoisted the National Flag in the presence of District Collector Sri Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and District SP Sri K.V. Maheswara Reddy IPS. The dignitaries also inspected the impressive police parade, with armed police personnel presenting a ceremonial salute.
The Police Dog Squad was a major attraction. Police dogs Munna and Beauty demonstrated obedience skills, while Drona showcased its ability to identify an accused in a mock murder investigation and detect illegal transportation of cannabis. The dogs also demonstrated hurdle jumping and explosive-detection skills, earning appreciation from the audience.
Students and artists presented cultural programmes, adding colour and patriotic spirit to the celebrations. A spectacular drone show displaying the National Flag in the sky was another major highlight.
The dignitaries visited various Police Department stalls, where they reviewed police services, modern technology, and the functioning of specialised units.
Police officers and personnel who displayed outstanding performance during 2026 were presented with certificates of appreciation. Medals were also awarded for meritorious and distinguished service for 2025, along with service medals for 2026.
The celebrations highlighted the professionalism, bravery, technological capabilities, and dedicated public service of the Srikakulam District Police, while honouring personnel who have contributed significantly to maintaining law and order and protecting the community.
