Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, July 4: In a proactive step towards enhancing women’s safety, the Srikakulam District Police, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, conducted a widespread awareness drive across schools and colleges in the district.
As part of the initiative, students were informed about the significance of the Shakti App, an emergency safety tool for women and girls. Police officials encouraged everyone to download the app on their mobile phones and explained its features, including the SOS alert, Dial 112 emergency services, and real-time location sharing to ensure rapid police assistance.
Special self-defence demonstrations were conducted by trained instructors to equip students with basic skills to protect themselves in times of danger. The sessions also included informative talks on “Good Touch and Bad Touch” for younger students and awareness about important women-centric laws. The Shakti team of women police officers led the sessions with great commitment and engagement.
The initiative received positive feedback from students and faculty, highlighting the Srikakulam Police’s dedication to empowering women and creating a safer society through education and technological awareness.
