Hyderabad, Telangana: Telangana DGP Mr. C. V. Anand conducted the Half-Yearly Crime Review at the State Police Headquarters today, with all CPs, SPs and officers from various wings in attendance. The review included a detailed three-year comparison of crime trends and unit-wise performance. While overall crime had increased by 7.15% over 2023-24, cybercrime and economic offences had declined by 13%. The increase in narcotics cases reflected intensified enforcement.
A detailed, threadbare review was undertaken of district- and commissionerate-specific crime profiles, with particular attention to areas where performance was lagging. Necessary guidance was provided, and unit officers were tasked with preparing specific action plans.
DGP Mr. C. V. Anand directed CPs and SPs to closely analyse their crime figures, identify hotspots and early signals that could indicate issues that have the potential to disrupt law and order, focus on organized crime and gangs across different crime categories, and strengthen basic policing.
DGP Mr. C. V. Anand exhorted officers to give greater attention to narcotics enforcement, cybercrime, economic offences, crimes against women and children, food adulteration, traffic management and road safety.
The Heads of the Cyber Security Bureau, the Eagle Narcotics Wing and Intelligence, along with their teams, briefed the officers on procedural issues, recent trends and operational aspects in their respective areas. The review also covered welfare, budget and performance in basic policing, including visits to police stations, inspections, crime meetings, field policing, day and night patrolling, and response to Dial 112 calls.
Day 2 will include presentations by young IPS officers on various innovations, followed by discussions on the implementation of the new criminal laws, the ICJS and portals such as Nyaya Shruti. The rollout of the latest versions of AI-based CCTNS, TG-COP and Hawkeye will also be taken up.
