On 30.11.2019, when Tirunelveli CSCID, sleuths were conducting vehicle check at Puliyarai check post Tirunelveli District intercepted a lorry bearing registration number TN 29 AB 6001 laden with 13500 kgs of PDS rice.
In this connection a case was registered in Tirunelveli CSCID unit in crime number 218/ 2019. The lorry driver ramsamy (age 40) was arrested and he confessed that the kingpin of the case is Mariappan (age 62) resided at Alagapuram village, Tirunelveli District.
The accused one Mariyappan was already involved in 6 cases. He is history sheeted KYC in Tirunelveli District. He was detained in black marketers Act. The recidivist smuggles PDS Rice into black markets. He has also been bound over 110 Cr.PC for his good behavior for 6 months. The notorious criminal was absconding.
On the instructions of the Director General of Police CSCID Dr. Prateep V. Philip IPS and under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Mr. G. Stalin a special team was formed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. T. Elangovan and KYC concept was availed to to trace the hideout of accused. The notorious criminal Mariyappan was arrested at Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district on yesterday.
