<![CDATA[Karnataka: Talking about traffic rules, we were always taught that one should make way for ambulances, fire trucks and police vehicles; no matter how urgently you need to get somewhere. However, there is no denying the fact that when it came to VVIP convoys, rules were often relaxed and they were given preference over everyone else. Despite knowing that ambulances should always be given preference over any VIP's car, traffic cops often bowed in front of hierarchy over humanity. However, Bengaluru Police Sub Inspector Nijalingappa, has set a great example and we are glad that someone finally took a stand. Nijalingappa stopped President Pranab Mukherjee's convoy to make way for an ambulance and in the process won the hearts of people all over the country. Nijalingappa's act has garnered praises not only from the Bengaluru Police department but from netizens as well. He chose to save a life over maintaining the status quo and now the Bengaluru Police have decided to reward him for doing his duty. He was posted at Trinity Circle in Bengaluru on Saturday and while traffic was blocked to allow the President to pass, he spotted an ambulance with its siren on. Nijalingappa didn't think twice and stopped the convoy and made way for the ambulance. The President was visiting the city to inaugurate the Namma metro's Green Line. Soon after, internet was flooded with praises and appreciation for him. DCP Traffic East too took to Twitter to appreciate his efforts.]]>
