Hyderabad, Telangana: In a major enforcement initiative to enhance road safety and prevent crime, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have launched a special citywide drive against vehicles using fake, tampered, altered, or unauthorized registration number plates.
As part of the week-long operation, the police registered six criminal cases against offenders who allegedly used fraudulent number plates to conceal vehicle identities, evade enforcement, and violate traffic laws. Multiple vehicles involved in these violations were identified and seized. The cases were registered in Sultan Bazar, Mehdipatnam, Bahadurpura, Peddapalli (Ramagundam), Medipally (Malkajgiri), and Kattangur (Nalgonda) police station limits.
Reiterating that only Government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legally valid, the department warned that the use of altered, sticker-based, obscured, incomplete, or unauthorized number plates is a serious offence under the Motor Vehicles Act and other applicable laws. The Hyderabad Traffic Police reaffirmed their Zero Tolerance policy against such violations, emphasizing that offenders will face criminal prosecution and vehicle seizure. The sustained enforcement drive reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring lawful vehicle usage, strengthening crime prevention, improving road safety, and promoting strict compliance with traffic regulations.
