Hyderabad: CP Mr. CV Anand said that two special units have been set up for the eradication of drugs. He said narcotics enforcement wing units have been set up at the Hyderabad police commissioner’s office. “We have set up the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and the Narcotics Investigation Supervising Wing,” CP said. Across the country, these drugs are becoming harmful in society. He said the CM had arranged a KCR meeting on drugs for the last four months and was given clear directions. At a meeting of the CM on January 28, he said that strict measures should be taken to eradicate drugs. CP Mr. Anand said that sensational things came to light after the arrest of Tony as the King of Drugs. He said Tony had been arrested and sent to jail on charges of having bought drugs for the first time as he had links with Hyderabad businessmen.
He said he had been ordered to set up a narcotics enforcement wing with a thousand policemen across the state. The South Zone Task Force has appointed DCP Mr. Chakraborty as the DCP of the Narcotics Enforcement Wing set up in Hyderabad. Only these teams will focus on drugs and register cases. In Hyderabad, only 22 percent are convicted and cases are pending in court. He said police personnel would be made aware of the NDPC Act cases. He said that no more mistakes would be made and that a criminal investigation would be carried out to ensure that they were punished. CP Anand clarified that from the time the case is registered till the conviction falls, we will see to it that there is supervision.
