LUCKNOW: UP’s former transport minister and Samajwadi Party leader Gayatri Prajapati, the absconding gang rape accused who had been on the run eluding Police arrest for quite some time was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police and sleuths of Special task Force (STF) in Lucknow on Wednesday morning. Earlier Prajapati’s two sons and a nephew had been detained and grilled by the Police. Police presented Gayatri later at the district court and was sent to 14-day judicial custody. Gayatri Prajapati and his six accomplices are accused of gang raping and sexually assaulting a woman and her minor daughter. Mr. Daljeet Chaudhary, Additional Director General (Law and Order) said that the accused former minister was held in state capital by a team of Lucknow police and STF sleuths. Mr. Javeed Ahmed, Director General, UP Police confirmed the arrest. ADG (L&O) said, Gayatri Prajapati’s investigation is now in the final stage in the case. All the seven accused named in the case have been arrested.
