Uttarakhand: To give the message of environmental protection and protection and awareness, Uttarakhand Police is running a massive tree plantation campaign at the state level, under which one lakh saplings will be planted in all police premises (stations, outposts, corps, police lines, units).
On June 05, 2021, on World Environment Day, environmentalist Padma Bhushan Dr. Anil Joshi along with Mr. Ashok Kumar IPS, DGP started this campaign by planting trees in the Police Headquarters premises.
The DGP informed that this campaign will continue till the Harel festival (July 16), under which the target is to plant at least 100 saplings in each police station, 1000 in police lines, 5000 or more saplings in vehicles. In this way, one lakh saplings will be planted in all police premises till the Harel festival.
On this occasion, Dr. Anil Joshi, while addressing the police officers in the Police Headquarters Auditorium said that this is a very difficult time for human life if we still do not take care of the environment.
Destruction is certain. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment. We are responsible for the changes that are happening in the environment at present, especially the melting of glaciers in the biggest sign that the earth has.
There is going to be a big crisis in life. Life is becoming difficult in land and water, many species are getting extinct. During the COVID period, nature has shown that there is no one greater than him, not even science, because due to the lock-down during the COVID period, the environment has been protected somewhere. It is time to heal the wounds of nature.
On this occasion, if Uttarakhand Police has taken steps to protect the environment, then undoubtedly Uttarakhand Police deserves congratulations, and such events and programs should be organized so that people become aware. Uttarakhand is going to be the first state in the country to issue GEP (Gross Environment Product).
The DGP directed all the officers to make this campaign successful and honored Dr. Anil Joshi by presenting them with a memento.
Earlier, under the campaign, all police officers including DGP planted a tree in Police Officers Colony, Kishanpur along with Mrs. Kahkasha Naseem, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mussoorie, and Mr. Nirmal Vaidya, President, Nursery Man Association.
