Vadakancherry: The Vadakancherry police and police special squad arrested Daniel alias Dani, aged 21, son of Ramachandran, Mallamvalappu house, Valkulam, Koranchira PO, who was involved in robberies, burglary, and robbery in Palakkad and Thrissur districts at night.
He pleaded guilty to burglary of a house at Kallingapadam in Vadakancherry at night, robbery of gold jewelry, threatening a security guard with a knife in the Palakkad town area, robbing a mobile phone, and assaulting a woman at a sugarcane juice shop in Chittoor. The burglars Amaljit and Daniel, who were arrested by the Kollengode police the other day, broke into the house and looted.
The stolen money is being used to buy drugs and swindle the accused, who is the main link in the sale of drugs in the Vadakancherry and Kizhakancherry areas. The accused has been lodged in jail before in a vehicle theft case in the Trissur district. The police had been monitoring the accused who had been absconding in Ernakulum and Trissur districts for a few days.
A mobile phone stolen from Palakkad has been recovered from the accused. Amaljit has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to gather more evidence. Defendants need to be questioned to find out if they have committed more thefts by riding their bikes at night and stealing at various places in the Palakkad district. Defendants are still in a relationship that began in a juvenile home during adolescence.
