West Bengal: It was a pleasant surprise for the police personal of West Bengal. This surprise comes in the backdrop when The Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that the state government had plans to increase the salary of police personnel. The Chief Minister said that she had asked the Pay Commission to submit a report within three months in connection with the revision of the salaries. She said this on the third working day at the state’s Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister on making the above statement had to support her statement by saying that presently the police personnel is granted only get one day off per week, which amounts to 52 more days in a year than other officials in the civil administration who is granted two weekly offs. So the police personal will get an additional salary for 22 days as compensation for it, she said. She added saying that considering the fact that the police put in their hard work even through all the festival seasons in order to ensure security for the people of the state. Therefore, this is the least we can do for them. The statement that has been put forth by the Chief Minister has been unanticipated and welcoming to the police force, as she has earlier been found to be maintaining a strict stance against police personnel in the state. ]]>
