West Jaintia Hills: West Jaintia Hills District is one of the 11 (eleven) districts of the state of Meghalaya. With the bifurcation of the erstwhile Jaintia Hills District into East and West Jaintia Hills District, West Jaintia Hills District came into existence on 31st July 2012 with its Head Quarter in Jowai. Jowai is the host of all the heads of important governmental offices and establishments, educational institutions, hospitals, banking institutions, etc.
Mr. Lakador Syiem MPS, IPS Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District said with the emergence of COVID-19 and the implementation of the Lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly contagious infectious virus, Coronavirus, the Meghalaya Police have made an appeal to the people. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to more people the Lockdown is being brought into force and this is the third Lockdown since the COVID-19 in Meghalaya. He asked the people to cooperate with the police to make the Lockdown a success and thereby win the battle against Coronavirus and ensure that not even a person in Meghalaya is tested positive with COVID-19. Mr. Lakador Syiem MPS, IPS also said that all the people by Staying Home shall Stay Safe. We are in this together and we request you to help us so that we are able to help you.
