Hubballi: A 24-year-old woman, the daughter of a Congress corporator, was allegedly stabbed to death by her acquaintance on the BVB College campus in Hubballi, Karnataka, police said. The accused, 23-year-old Fayaz (who goes by one name), was arrested. Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was a first-year MCA student. Fayaz, an MCA dropout from Savadatti in Belagavi district, had been classmates with Neha during their BCA course and had been allegedly stalking her for several months.
He entered the college campus with a knife and mask and stabbed Neha multiple times in the chest and neck around 3:30 p.m. The incident was recorded on CCTV. Neha was taken to KIMS hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Fayaz had proposed to her in the past, but she had declined, according to her classmates. A murder case has been registered against him, and further investigation is underway. The body has been handed over to her family following the post-mortem examination, according to an officer from Vidya Nagar police station.
