New Delhi: The South District Police organised felicitation ceremony of all Delhi Police Mitras at Siri Fort Auditorium in Hauz Khas. The programme was chaired by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Amulya Patnaik and was attended by 2,000 “Police Mitras” from all 13 districts. The importance of “Police Mitras” in prevention of crime, maintaining law and order and communal harmony in the area was emphasised by the police. In order to motivate the “Police Mitras”, the Commissioner of Police gave mementoes to 26 “Police Mitras” who had performed well and assisted the police in preventing the crime, maintaining law and order, communal harmony and assisted in other day-to-day policing. Patnaik addressed the “Police Mitras” and appreciated them and mentioned that they can play effective role in preventing crime and maintaining law and order as well as communal harmony in the area. As the police cannot be available everywhere at the same time, the law abiding citizens can help the police in many ways, said Patnaik. The participants were briefed about the concepts of “Eyes and Ears Scheme” and “Neighbourhood Watch Scheme” in which a common man can help the police to prevent crime.]]>
