Chennai: Karur Vysya Bank Manager Mr. Mohanasundaram lodged a complaint in CCB stating that, in 2006 M.M.Sundaram of Nanganallur, Sabitha Devi of Nanganallur, Vidyakumar of Madipakkam, Nithya Kumar of Ramapuram, and Tirupathi Raja 0f Nanganallur have applied for a car loan for Rs.3 lakh to buy a Scorpio car, Rs.4 lakh to buy a Hyundai car and Rs.4.5 lakh to buy a Qualis car. They had cheated the bank with the fake documents and shown the registration of two-wheelers as that of the cars were purchased. But actually, they did not buy cars for which they applied for loans. In this regard, the CCB team took up an investigation, registered 3 cases against Sundaram, 2 cases against Vithya Kumar, and one case against Sabitha Devi, Tirupathiraja, and Nithya Kumar.
On 13.08.2021, the case was heard in the JM-I Poonamallee Court in Chennai which pronounced a verdict, convicting M. M. Sundaram to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment each in 3 cases and a fine of Rs.10,000 each, Vidyakumar to undergo 3 years rigorous imprisonment each in 2 cases and a fine of Rs.10,000 each. Sabitha Devi, Tirupathi Raja, and Nithya Kumar undergo 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10,000 each.
