Trivandrum: Known as one of the most technologically advanced departments in the country, the Kerala Police is trying to create disruptive technologies related to Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.
Inaugurating the program, Inspector General of Police (South Zone) Mr. P Prakash IPS said the department was currently working on new software ICOPS to make extensive use of the crime data available in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). The application of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics tools allows the department to develop features in the software that will enable the next generation of police. He said the end result of the program was to reduce the workload of officers in police stations and provide better services to the people.
DUK Vice-Chancellor Mr. Saji Gopinath said the program represents the next level of e-governance. “It came to our attention.” We are looking at a number of projects for different government departments that are very in-depth and focus on technology. We are very happy to launch this series with the Kerala Police Department, “said Mr. Gopinath. Opportunities to use those technologies in governance are in the middle.
” The whole e-governance initiative is to introduce various applications, hardware, and products as well as improve governance in general. Now we have started onboarding people with specific ideas in data analytics and Artificial Intelligence so that governance can also be improved, ”said the IT Mission Director. The training program includes 150 hours of classroom sessions conducted by industry experts and researchers. The first batch of 15 officers selected from the police department will be trained, the statement said.
