Hyderabad City: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), in conjunction with Bahadurpura Police, have apprehended four ganja suppliers, one transporter, and two peddlers who were found in illegal possession of 80 kilograms of ganja, six cell phones, and a modified Ashoka Leyland trolley under the Bahadurpura Police Station limits in Hyderabad. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be worth Rs. 30,00,000/-.
The four ganja suppliers have been identified as Pangi Pandanna (age 38, farmer, resident of Valasagadda, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State), Korra Sitaram (age 27, farmer, resident of Valasagadda, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State), Korra Subbanna (age 22, farmer, resident of Valasagadda, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State), and Pangi Krishna Murthy (age 24, farmer, resident of Valasagadda, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State). The ganja transporter has been identified as Tejavath Kotesh (age 24, farmer, resident of Maripada Banglow, Mahabubabad, Warangal) who was previously involved in two cases: Cr.No.110/2023 of Golconda Police Station and Cr. No.211/2018 of Choutuppal Police Station. The two ganja peddlers have been identified as Rakesh Singh (age 41, ganesh idol maker, resident of Dhoolpet, Hyderabad) and Bajrang (age 27, daily wager, resident of Dhoolpet, Hyderabad). Tejavath Kotesh, the prime accused, used to travel to Sileru, Andhra Pradesh in a bus to procure small quantities of ganja in 2018, which he supplied to the Dhoolpet peddlers.
In 2022, he purchased a modified Ashoka Leyland auto trolley with hidden cabins for concealing ganja and started procuring ganja in bulk quantities from cultivators (Pangi Pandanna, Korra Sitaram, Korra Subbanna, Pangi Krishna Murthy) in Valasagadda, Sileru, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State, and transporting it to the Dhoolpet peddlers. The cultivators previously used to cultivate ganja in Valasagadda, Sileru, Alluri Sitharama Raju District, AP State, but started procuring it from Malkangiri District, Odisha State, due to difficulty in cultivating ganja in Andhra Pradesh.
A case was previously registered in Cr.No.110/2023 of Golconda Police Station against Ramesh, Bayya Ravi, and Beereddy Naveen Reddy for procuring ganja from Tejavath Kotesh. On credible information, the Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Bahadurpura Police Station apprehended the accused persons and seized 80 kilograms of ganja, six cell phones, and a modified Ashoka Leyland trolley from their possession. The investigation is ongoing to identify the ganja consumers.
The Hyderabad City Police appeals to the general public to be vigilant and report any drug-related activity to the police to help curtail such anti-social activities and strive for a drug-free city. The arrests were made under the supervision of Mr. Chakravarthy Gummi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, H-NEW.
