Tirunelveli: In Tirunelveli, Amaravathi (65) from Mela Ratha Veedhi, under the jurisdiction of Tirukurungudi police station, was outside her residence drawing kolam when Arunachal Pandian (35) from North Street, Mavadiputhur, approached her under the pretext of asking for directions and forcibly took her 10-pound gold chain. Attempting to flee, Arunachal Pandian was apprehended by Amaravathi and Kala (40), her neighbor, and handed over to the Tirukurungudi police station. Upon receiving this report, Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan IPS commended Amaravathi’s courage in apprehending the chain snatcher and presented her with a reward and a certificate of appreciation.
