Assam: Since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Assam ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Assam Police and Excise department have worked together to seize a substantial 4.19 lakh litres of illegal liquor, valued at around Rs 18.21 crore.
The combined efforts to crack down on illegal liquor have also resulted in the seizure of 14 vehicles, worth Rs 3.87 crore in total.
To curb the flow of contraband into the state, the Assam Police has strengthened its borders by setting up 26 Naka check gates at key inter-state boundaries.
