Karnal: The first case of braid cutting was reported in Newal village of the district today. Harbhajan Kaur, a class IX student, found her braid chopped off when she woke up in the morning. Family members filed a complaint with the police. The police will take help from the CCTV cameras installed in the village. “I am not afraid but shocked,” she said. Darshan Singh, her father, demanded action against the culprit. “We have also increased vigil in the vicinity also,” said Raj Kumar Ranga, Kunjpura SHO. Harbhajan Singh, sarpanch, said villagers would keep vigil in the village. Panipat: A case of braid cutting was reported in Nizampur village of the district today. Vinod Sharma, husband of sarpanch Kavita Sharma, said when Meena (35), wife of Suresh, got up at 4 am today, she saw some images and fell unconscious. When she got, her braid had been chopped off. Villagers gathered at her house and informed the police, he said. “We have decided to start night vigil in the village from today to check if some anti-social elements are involved in the incident. T he village panchayat has decided to reward the person who will help in nabbing the culprit. He will also be felicitated on August 15,” said Sharma. ASI Parminder Singh, officiating SHO, PS Sadar, said, “I visited the village today. Night patrolling in the village has been stepped up. We haven’t received any written complaint yet.
