Amritsar: In a significant operation against trans-border narcotic networks, Counter Intelligence Amritsar successfully intercepted 5 kilograms of heroin and arrested three individuals in the village of Ranike, located in Amritsar. This operation has unveiled the use of drones as a method for smuggling drugs across the border from Pakistan, highlighting a sophisticated approach by the traffickers.
The heroin, intended for distribution, was discovered following a detailed intelligence operation. The apprehended individuals are believed to be key players in the network, and their capture marks a substantial blow to the narcotic operations in the region.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, initiating legal proceedings against the culprits. Investigations are currently underway to trace the origins and destination points of the seized heroin, aiming to dismantle the entire supply chain. The authorities are focused on uncovering both backward linkages, which may reveal the source and suppliers in Pakistan, and forward linkages, which could expose the local distribution network within India. This operation is expected to provide critical insights into the workings of international drug trafficking and aid in further crackdowns on such illicit activities.
