Andaman and Nicobar Island, South Andaman: In the early hours of 26.03.2025, volunteers from VHP, Bajrang Dal, and HRS tracked and intercepted a pickup van near Raksha Vihar, School Line, suspected of transporting illegally slaughtered cow meat. Upon inspection, they discovered a large quantity of meat believed to be from illegal slaughter. The volunteers detained the vehicle and its occupants before notifying the A&N Police for further action.

The A&N Police have confirmed the seizure of 1,300 kg of meat and launched an investigation. The pickup truck was taken into custody at PS Aberdeen. During the probe, it was found that the suspect lacked valid documentation for transporting the meat, and the Department of Veterinary Services confirmed that no permission had been granted for its transport.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions from various community groups. While some have supported the actions of VHP, Bajrang Dal, and HRS, citing the need to uphold religious sentiments and animal protection, others have called for a thorough investigation to ensure legal compliance.

The A&N Police has assured a fair and comprehensive inquiry to bring those responsible to justice. Subsequently, various organizations have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman regarding the incident.
