South Andaman, Andaman and Nicobar: In a proactive initiative to strengthen fire safety and public preparedness, the Andaman & Nicobar Fire & Emergency Services conducted an awareness and stakeholder interaction programme as part of the dissemination of the A&N Fire & Emergency Services Regulations, 2026.
The session was led by Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Superintendent of Police (Fire), along with Mohammad Basir, Station Officer, Fire Station Swaraj Dweep. The programme brought together 42 stakeholders, including representatives from bars, restaurants, hotels, resorts, and other commercial establishments operating in the region.
During the interactive session, the officials explained the key provisions and salient features of the newly introduced Fire & Emergency Services Regulations, 2026. Stakeholders were encouraged to share their valuable suggestions to support the effective implementation of the regulations and improve fire safety standards.
The participants were also urged to voluntarily conduct Fire Safety Audits, adopt preventive measures, and strictly comply with prescribed fire safety norms to minimize fire risks and ensure the safety of customers, employees, and the general public.
The initiative reflects the Fire & Emergency Services Department’s commitment to fostering a culture of fire prevention through awareness, collaboration, and compliance. By engaging directly with business establishments, the department aims to enhance public safety, improve emergency preparedness, and create a safer environment across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
