Madurai, Tamil Nadu, June 4: In a swift and effective operation, Usilampatti Police, led by DSP Chandrasekaran, seized illegally hoarded firecrackers worth approximately ₹8 lakh from a residential house in Sivankalai Kovil Street, Ward 8, Usilampatti Municipality.
Acting on a tip-off about unauthorized storage and sale of firecrackers, the police team conducted a surprise raid at the residence of one Pandeeswari, where a large quantity of firecrackers was found stored without proper licenses or safety measures. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the individual was running a box shop and engaging in illegal sales from the premises.
The raid not only prevented potential unlawful trading but also averted a major fire hazard in the densely populated area. Residents expressed relief, noting that any mishap could have led to serious consequences.

Further investigation is underway, and authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to fire safety regulations, especially in residential zones.
