Hyderabad, Telangana, July 13, 2025: In yet another demonstration of swift and efficient policing, Hyderabad Police successfully recovered a stolen auto-rickshaw within 36 hours and apprehended a habitual offender involved in the crime.
The incident began on July 12, 2025, when G. Mastan Rao, an auto driver from Brindavan Colony, Tolichowki, reported the theft of his auto (Reg. No. TS12UA***) from outside his residence. Based on his complaint, a case was promptly registered, and an investigation was initiated.
On the night of July 13, around 9:30 PM, during routine vehicle checks at Shaikpet X Road, alert police personnel noticed a suspicious auto driver who attempted to flee on sighting the police. Demonstrating quick thinking and teamwork, the officers gave chase and successfully intercepted the individual.
The suspect was identified as Hameed Khan alias Addu (19), a labourer from Parsigutta, Secunderabad. During questioning, he confessed to stealing the auto to fund a lavish lifestyle and admitted to being addicted to smoking and alcohol. Further inquiry revealed he is a repeat offender, recently released from a Juvenile Home after serving a three-year sentence for similar crimes.
The stolen vehicle, valued at ₹2,70,000, was recovered and seized as part of the case proceedings.
