Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, July 25: In a remarkable initiative to promote road safety awareness and community responsibility, the Road Safety Force for the year 2025–2026 was officially inaugurated in a grand ceremony led by Avadi Police Commissioner Mr. K. Shankar, I.P.S. at Thiruvallur.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of over 1,400 student volunteers and 101 road safety wardens representing 38 schools from across the district. Their presence reflected a growing youth commitment to road discipline, civic awareness, and public safety.
The highlight of the event was the Road Safety Force Pledge, administered by Avadi Additional Commissioner of Police Mrs. K. Bhavaneeswari, I.P.S., instilling in the young volunteers a sense of duty and vigilance towards road safety protocols.
In his keynote address, Commissioner K. Shankar underscored the vital role that students and the general public play in preventing road accidents. He spoke about the importance of adhering to traffic rules, cultivating road discipline from a young age, and fostering a culture of safety and responsibility in communities.
“Road safety is not just a duty of enforcement agencies; it is a collective responsibility. Our student volunteers are the ambassadors of change who will help carry this message forward,” said Mr. Shankar.
As part of the recognition for outstanding efforts, the Commissioner presented special awards to road safety inspectors, participating school principals, and student volunteers who had shown exceptional commitment to the cause in the previous year.
The formation of the Road Safety Force is a proactive step by the Avadi Police to engage schools and young citizens in reducing road mishaps through education, awareness campaigns, and community policing. This initiative is expected to strengthen road safety practices across the region, paving the way for a safer and more disciplined traffic environment.
