Hyderabad, Telangana: Reinforcing their commitment to women’s safety, the Rachakonda She Teams have intensified operations against harassment in public spaces. Within just fifteen days, 214 offenders were caught and dealt with through legal action and counseling.
Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Shri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, emphasized that She Teams will not spare anyone involved in harassing women and girls. Operating in mufti at bus stands, railway and metro stations, schools, colleges, markets, and other public places, She Teams have been conducting decoy operations, gathering evidence, and apprehending offenders.
Between 16th and 31st August, a total of 228 complaints were received:
* 39 cases of harassment over phone calls
* 86 cases via social media
* 103 incidents of direct harassment
Out of these, 98 offenders were booked in criminal cases while 113 underwent counseling sessions in the presence of their parents at the LB Nagar CP Camp Office, under the supervision of Women Safety Wing DCP Smt. T. Upa Rani.
Key Cases Highlighted:
* Workplace Harassment: A man was arrested for persistently harassing his colleague in the name of love and spreading false rumors.
* Cyber Harassment: Another offender was jailed for threatening a young woman on social media by sending messages and attempting to morph her photographs.
* Neighborhood Harassment: A man was arrested for mentally harassing a woman in his locality.
* Public Nuisance: Youths creating nuisance at Thukkuguda Bus Stand were detained and booked.
Awareness Initiatives:
She Teams also conducted 86 awareness programs, reaching out to over 17,210 people about women’s rights, laws, and safety precautions. Decoy operations in Metro trains further resulted in action against nine men who were fined for entering women-only compartments.
