Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, October 25, 2025: In view of the impending Cyclone Manta, Visakhapatnam Range Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sri Gopinath Jatti, IPS, conducted a comprehensive review meeting with the Superintendents of Police from Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Srikakulam districts to assess disaster preparedness and law and order arrangements across the coastal region.
During the meeting, the DIG emphasized the importance of proactive measures and inter-departmental coordination to effectively respond to any emergencies arising from the cyclone. He directed all district police officers to stay alert, ensure the availability of necessary resources and disaster response equipment, and maintain close communication with local administration and line departments.
Sri Gopinath Jatti, IPS, instructed SPs to:
* Set up 24/7 control rooms in every district with dedicated staff to monitor the situation continuously.
* Issue advance warnings to fishermen and residents of low-lying and coastal villages.
* Identify flood-prone and vulnerable areas in advance and ensure appropriate safety arrangements.
* Strengthen night patrolling and surveillance through CCTV cameras in key locations to prevent theft and chain-snatching incidents.
* Monitor habitual offenders and inter-state gangs closely and take preventive measures to maintain peace and security.
On the cyber front, the DIG stressed the need to expedite investigations in cybercrime cases, ensure recovery of frozen funds for victims, and conduct awareness campaigns to educate citizens about online scams such as digital arrest, financial investment frauds, and identity theft.
He also directed officials to take strict action against social media misuse, particularly targeting those who spread misinformation or objectionable content, and to enforce the law strictly against illegal rallies, protests, and unauthorized gatherings.
Further, in line with the State Police’s commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs, DIG Gopinath Jatti instructed district units to tighten surveillance on marijuana smuggling routes, establish permanent checkpoints, and dispose of seized vehicles involved in such cases promptly.
Reiterating the importance of readiness and teamwork, DIG Sri Gopinath Jatti, IPS, said,
“In the wake of Cyclone Manta, all authorities must remain vigilant, alert, and act in close coordination to safeguard lives and property. Timely preparedness and teamwork are key to facing any emergency effectively.”
