Dibrugarh, Assam: Shri Abhijit Gurav, IPS (2014 batch, Assam–Meghalaya cadre), has officially assumed charge as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dibrugarh district, succeeding Shri Rakesh Reddy, who has been transferred to Hojai district.
Prior to this posting, Shri Gurav served as SSP of Tinsukia district, where he was instrumental in implementing effective law enforcement and public safety initiatives. Upon his arrival at the Dibrugarh SSP Office, he was accorded a warm welcome by officers and staff as he formally took charge.
The transfer marks a strategic lateral posting within Upper Assam, enabling Shri Gurav to bring his regional experience and policing expertise to one of the state’s key districts. The outgoing SSP, Shri Rakesh Reddy, who led several notable crime prevention and community outreach programs during his tenure, has been reassigned as SSP of Hojai. The handover took place smoothly, ensuring operational continuity in district policing.
Dibrugarh, being a vital commercial, educational, and cultural hub of Upper Assam, presents unique law and order challenges. Shri Gurav’s prior experience in managing similar dynamics in Tinsukia is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening police responsiveness and public engagement.
District officials and police personnel expressed confidence that under his leadership, law and order, community policing, and crime prevention efforts will be further enhanced in Dibrugarh.
