Hyderabad, Telangana: In a continued effort to reduce road accidents and save precious lives, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, Shri D. Joel Davis, I.P.S., conducted a special counselling session for drunken drivers at the Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal, on 24.11.2025.
Addressing the offenders and their family members, the Joint Commissioner highlighted that a large number of fatal road accidents involve young people aged between 20 and 35, causing irreparable loss to families and society. He explained the dangerous effects of alcohol on the central nervous system, vision, and motor control, along with the severe financial, psychological and social consequences of drunk-driving accidents.
He appealed to all commuters to choose ride-sharing options or public transport when consuming alcohol and strictly avoid taking the wheel while intoxicated. He reiterated that Hyderabad Traffic Police will continue intensive drunk-driving checks across the city to ensure public safety.
DCP Traffic–III, Shri R. Venkateshwarlu, also participated in the programme. Around 600 persons, including drunk-driving offenders and their family members, attended the impactful awareness session.
The initiative underlines Hyderabad Traffic Police’s strong commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safer roads for all.
