Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu: In an effort to protect young minds from the growing threat of online crimes, the Tirupattur District Police organized a comprehensive Cybercrime Awareness Program for school students. The initiative was conducted on 28.11.2025 at Sri Vijay Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, under the instructions of District Superintendent of Police Mrs. V. Shyamala Devi.
The awareness session was led by Cybercrime Additional Superintendent of Police, Mr. Ravindran, representing the District Cybercrime Police Station. During the program, students received detailed guidance on maintaining personal safety while navigating the digital world.
The session focused on:
🔹 Online financial frauds – common tactics used by cybercriminals and how to avoid becoming victims
🔹 Social media safety – responsible usage, privacy settings, dangers of oversharing, and recognizing fake profiles
🔹 Safe browsing practices – identifying secure websites and avoiding suspicious links, apps, and downloads
Students were also informed about government-supported complaint platforms to seek immediate help in case of cybercrime:

📞 1930 (Toll-free number) – helpline for instant reporting of online financial frauds
The officers emphasized the importance of reporting cybercrime without hesitation, highlighting that timely reporting can help prevent financial losses and protect other victims. They also encouraged students to act as ambassadors of online safety by spreading the knowledge to their friends and family.
Teachers and school administrators appreciated the Tirupattur District Police for their proactive approach to safeguarding students from digital threats and equipping them with the right awareness to face the modern online world confidently.
The Tirupattur District Police reiterated that preventive awareness and digital vigilance are key weapons in fighting cybercrime and assured that more such programs will be conducted across schools and colleges in the district.
