Chikkamagaluru City, Karnataka: As part of the ‘Arakash Gelathi’ (Women–Police Friendship) program, the Women Police Sub-Inspector (MPSI) of Chikkamagaluru City Police Station visited the Post-Matric Girls’ Hostel (Vocational) and Smt. Indira Gandhi Post-Matric Nursing Hostel in Chikkamagaluru City on 29.11.2025.
The initiative aims to create a safe and supportive communication bridge between students and the police, ensuring quick redressal of concerns and promoting awareness on personal safety.
During the visit, the PSI:
🔹 Interacted warmly with the students, listened to their grievances and assured appropriate action
🔹 Inspected hostel premises and facilities along with the hostel warden and staff
🔹 Educated students on important safety and legal topics, including:
Cybercrime and safe use of the internet
Traffic rules and responsible road behavior
Harmful effects of drugs and substance abuse
Provisions of the POCSO Act to protect children
Prohibition of Child Marriage Act
The awareness program helped students gain confidence to report concerns and strengthened their understanding of laws designed for their safety and empowerment.
The Chikkamagaluru City Police reaffirmed that such hostel visits and safety awareness programs will continue regularly under the Arakash Gelathi initiative to ensure the protection, well-being and empowerment of young women in educational institutions.
