Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: Demonstrating strict enforcement against illegal mining and transportation, Tirunelveli Police arrested a sand smuggler during a routine vehicle inspection in the Palavoor area of the district.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by Sub-Inspector Mr. Mahendran, who stopped and inspected a mini tipper truck during checking. Upon verification, the driver, identified as Sivarama Krishnan (27) of Ambalavanapuram, was found to be illegally transporting two units of M-sand without any valid permit.
Following the detection of the offence, police registered a case and arrested the accused. The illegally transported M-sand and the mini tipper truck used for the smuggling activity were seized as part of the legal action.
Senior police officials appreciated the alertness and prompt action of the Palavoor police team. The Tirunelveli Police reiterated that strict action will continue against illegal sand transportation to protect natural resources and maintain law and order.
