Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: As per the directions of Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police, Mr. N. Silambarasan, IPS, the district police are consistently organizing awareness programs for school and college students to ensure their safety and well-being.
In continuation of this initiative, Pathamadai Police Inspector Ms. Jothilakshmi conducted a special awareness programme for students at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Pathamadai. During the session, students were sensitized about crimes against women and children, the importance of seeking timely help through women and child helpline numbers 1098 and 181, and the legal provisions related to child marriage and the POCSO Act.
The students were also educated on the Kavalan SOS mobile application, highlighting its role in providing quick police assistance during emergencies. The interactive session empowered the students with essential knowledge on personal safety, legal rights, and available support systems.
The Tirunelveli District Police reiterated their commitment to protecting women and children through continuous awareness, education, and proactive policing initiatives.
