Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: The 77th Republic Day celebrations were held with great dignity and patriotic fervour at the V.O.C. Grounds, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli. The event was attended by District Collector Dr. R. Sukumar, IAS, Tirunelveli City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Manivannan, IPS, Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri P. Saravanan, IPS, Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police Dr. V. Prasanna Kumar, IPS, and City Deputy Commissioners of Police Dr. C. Madhan, IPS (West), Shri V. Vinoth Santharam (East), Shri S. Vijayakumar (Headquarters), along with other senior police officers.
On the occasion, District Collector Dr. R. Sukumar, IAS, ceremoniously hoisted the National Flag and took the salute of the police parade, led by Armed Reserve Police Inspector Sujatha. The parade reflected discipline, unity, and the high standards maintained by the police force.
As part of the celebrations, the District Collector honoured 39 police officers, constables, ministerial staff, and Home Guard personnel by presenting certificates of appreciation in recognition of their exemplary and dedicated service. Additionally, 48 Head Constables of the Tirunelveli City Police were awarded the prestigious Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Police Medals, acknowledging their meritorious service and commitment to duty.
The celebrations highlighted the dedication, professionalism, and service spirit of the Tirunelveli police, reinforcing their vital role in upholding law and order and serving the public in line with the constitutional values of the nation.
