Hyderabad, Telangana: The Afzalgunj Police Station successfully apprehended a habitual bike theft offender and recovered three stolen two-wheelers, thereby detecting three cases registered under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The arrested accused has been identified as Md. Riyaz Uddin @ Riyaz (39), a liquor depot worker and resident of Amberpet, Hyderabad. He was involved in multiple two-wheeler thefts within the limits of Afzalgunj Police Station.
The case came to light on 11.02.2026 following a complaint regarding the theft of a Hero Splendour Plus motorcycle from the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) premises. During the course of investigation, police teams analyzed CCTV footage and conducted local enquiries, which led to the identification and apprehension of the accused.
Upon interrogation, the police recovered three stolen vehicles:
- Hero Splendour Plus (Cr. No. 60/2026)
- Honda Activa (Cr. No. 07/2026)
- Honda Activa (Cr. No. 474/2025)
Investigation revealed that the accused allegedly used duplicate keys to commit thefts at various locations including MGBS parking area, Ashok Bazar, and OGH premises, with the intention of selling the stolen vehicles.
