Hyderabad, Telangana: The Afzalgunj Police Station successfully apprehended a habitual bike theft offender and recovered three stolen two-wheelers, thereby detecting three cases registered under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The arrested accused has been identified as Md. Riyaz Uddin @ Riyaz (39), a liquor depot worker and resident of Amberpet, Hyderabad. He was allegedly involved in multiple motorcycle thefts within the limits of Afzalgunj Police Station.
The case surfaced on 11.02.2026 following a complaint regarding the theft of a Hero Splendour Plus motorcycle from the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) premises. During the course of investigation, police teams analyzed CCTV footage and conducted field enquiries, which led to the identification and apprehension of the accused.
The police recovered the following stolen vehicles:
- Hero Splendour Plus (Cr. No. 60/2026)
- Honda Activa (Cr. No. 07/2026)
- Honda Activa (Cr. No. 474/2025)
Investigation revealed that the accused allegedly used duplicate keys to steal vehicles from locations including MGBS parking area, Ashok Bazar, and OGH premises, with the intention of selling them for financial gain.
Further investigation is underway.
The prompt detection of the cases and recovery of stolen property highlight the effective surveillance, technical analysis, and coordinated efforts of Afzalgunj Police in curbing vehicle theft and ensuring public safety.
