Hyderabad, Telangana: The Afzalgunj Police Station apprehended two inter-state drug transporters near the MGBS area and seized 10.32 kilograms of ganja, dealing a significant blow to narcotics trafficking.
The arrested accused are:
- Ashish Shikdhar (60), Odisha – Drug Transporter
- Bhima Jali (34), Odisha – Drug Transporter
An absconding accused, identified as Mouni (40), Odisha, is being traced.
Investigation revealed that Mouni allegedly engaged Ashish and Bhima to transport ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad by bus for a commission of ₹2,000 per kilogram. The contraband was cleverly concealed in specially stitched vests containing multiple hidden pockets worn beneath their clothing. After reportedly transporting 6 kilograms earlier, the duo was again dispatched on 13.02.2026 with 10 kilograms of ganja and ₹5,000 for expenses to deliver the consignment near MGBS to a receiver known only to Mouni.
On 14.02.2026 at around 5:35 PM, while the accused were waiting near MGBS, patrolling officers grew suspicious and apprehended them. Police seized:
- 10.32 kilograms of ganja
- Two specially designed concealment vests
- Two mobile phones
- Two jackets
- Cash of ₹2,380
Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and identify the intended receiver.
The timely interception by Afzalgunj Police highlights their vigilance and proactive patrolling efforts in curbing inter-state drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
