Hyderabad, Telangana: In a significant breakthrough, the Commissioner’s Task Force teams of Secunderabad and Khairatabad Zones, in coordination with the Sultan Bazar Police Station, successfully apprehended two interstate robbery offenders involved in a daring armed robbery near the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Koti.
Acting on credible intelligence, six special teams were formed to track down the accused. On February 24, 2026, police teams arrested the two offenders near Shaheen Nagar, Chandrayangutta, and seized incriminating material from their possession.
Accused Arrested:
Furkhan Ahmed (36), resident of Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
Mohd Taiyyab Tyagi (30), a cab driver operating in Hyderabad and native of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh.
Seized Property:
* One country-made pistol with 35 live rounds
* Two magazines
* Cash amounting to ₹2,38,000
* Two mobile phones
Crime Details:
The accused had forcibly confined the victim near the SBI ATM at Koti and assaulted him using a country-made firearm, robbing him of ₹6 lakh in cash. During the incident, the main accused fired two rounds—one at the floor and another at the victim’s leg—to intimidate him before fleeing with the cash and the victim’s two-wheeler.
Modus Operandi:
According to police investigations, Mohd Taiyyab Tyagi, who had been working as a taxi driver in Hyderabad since February 2024 through app-based services, observed frequent high-value cash deposits at ATM centers in Abids, Koti, and Nampally during early morning hours. Facing financial difficulties and having a prior criminal background, he allegedly conspired with relatives and associates from Uttar Pradesh to execute the robbery.
On January 31, 2026, the accused executed their plan by stationing themselves strategically around the ATM. After committing the robbery, they regrouped in Shaheen Nagar, divided the stolen money, and dispersed to their native places.
Five other accused persons—Faheem Ahmed, Naushad, Abid, Danish Tyagi, and Mohd Matlub—remain absconding, and efforts are underway to secure their arrest.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including DCP Task Force Sri. Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, IPS, and DCP Khairatabad Zone Smt. K.
