Udupi, Karnataka: Acting swiftly on credible information, the Shankaranarayana Police Station, under the supervision of Kaikini, successfully raided an illegal gambling den at Mejzeddu in Siddapur village on March 23, 2026.
A police team led by PSI Akshaya Kumari S N, along with staff members, conducted a strategic operation and caught four individuals red-handed while they were engaged in theAndar-Bahar gambling game involving cash betting. Two other accused managed to escape during the raid.
The arrested individuals were identified as Sudhakar Shetty (52), Ramesh (46), Manohar (46), and Mahesh (43), all residents of the Kundapur area.
During the operation, police seized:
* ₹6,700 in cash used for gambling
* 52 playing cards
* One red and black bed sheet used for the activity
The timely action by the police prevented ongoing illegal activities and demonstrated their firm commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
Efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused, and further investigation is in progress.
