Hyderabad, Telangana: In a decisive action, Pahadishareef Police busted an illegal PDS rice smuggling operation during early morning vehicle checks on 11.04.2026. Acting on suspicion near Jama Masjid, police intercepted an Ashok Leyland trolley auto and found 16 bags of PDS rice weighing a total of 8 quintals being transported illegally. The driver, Ram Jeevan Sani (52), was apprehended on the spot. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused was acting on the instructions of another person, who allegedly procured rice from ration card holders at low prices and sold it for profit. Police seized the rice and the vehicle, and registered a case under relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved. This successful operation highlights the commitment of the police to prevent misuse of essential commodities and protect public welfare.
