A 23-year-old man was found dead at his girlfriend’s flat in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka on Tuesday afternoon. While the woman claimed he committed suicide, the family of the deceased alleged he was murdered. The police received a PCR call around 3 p.m. about the death of Arnav Duggal, an employee of a multi-national company and resident of Patel Nagar. When the police reached the spot, they found his body hanging from the ceiling in his girlfriend’s flat in Dwarka Sector 10, after which the body was sent for post-mortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. According to the police, the girl, who worked in the same company as Arnav, told them that she along with Arnav and a couple of friends were partying on Monday night which continued till early on Tuesday. After dropping her back to her apartment, Arnav headed home, but came back complaining of uneasiness. She then told him to stay back till he feels better after which the two went to sleep in different rooms, she told the police. Around 3 p.m., she allegedly woke up and went to the room where Arnav slept and found him hanging from the ceiling fan and called the police. Arnav’s family, however, alleged that he didn’t commit suicide and was murdered by the girl and her ex-boyfriend. “The two have staged it to look like a suicide. She knew us very well but we received the call from the police about his death in the evening. Why didn’t she call us? Also, we tried to reach him but his phone was switched off,” said Alok Duggal, Arnav’s father. He also demanded a thorough probe into the matter, said the police. DCP (South-West) Mr.Surender Kumar told that a forensics team visited the spot and carried out an examination. His mobile phone will also be examined for call details. We are also questioning the friends to establish the sequence of events. Meanwhile, the victim’s sister has started an online petition alleging that her brother was murdered.
