Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police, Visvesh B. Shastri, IPS, inaugurated an awareness event held on June 26, 2026, at the conference hall of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Tirunelveli Range, to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The anti-drug awareness song released by the DIG of Tirunelveli Range, Dr. R. Thirunavukkarasu, IPS, was created with the aim of reaching out to the youth—using their language and a style that appeals to their tastes—to openly instill awareness against drug abuse. The DIG emphasized that the cooperation of the public and the youth is essential to create a drug-free society. He subsequently released the CD containing the anti-drug awareness song; District Collector Anand Mohan received it and delivered a special address. Many participants, including police officials, government staff, students, and members of the public, attended the event and took a pledge to build a drug-free society.
