Kolkata, West Bengal: Acting on directions issued by the Cyber Crime Wing, West Bengal (S4C), Eco Park Police Station conducted targeted raids based on cybercrime hotspot information received through the NCRP and SAMANVAYA portals.
The operation was carried out in accordance with Memo No. 28/JMIS/WBCCW/2026 dated August 14, 2026, using information relating to cheque and ATM withdrawal locations, suspected bank branches and mule accounts identified through cybercrime intelligence.
During the operation, police arrested two accused persons, Md. Aftab Anwar and Razia Bibi, who are allegedly linked to a cyber fraud racket. Several bank passbooks, ATM cards and cheque books were recovered from their possession.
The arrests were made in connection with Eco Park Police Station Case No. 277/26, dated September 17, 2026, registered under the relevant provisions of law.
Accused Md. Aftab Anwar was produced before the court and remanded to four days of police custody.
Further raids and investigation are underway to identify and apprehend other persons allegedly connected with the cyber fraud network. Investigation-related details concerning the arrested accused are also being updated in the JMIS and SAMANVAYA portals.
The targeted action reflects the proactive approach of Eco Park Police in using cybercrime intelligence and hotspot-based analysis to detect and disrupt fraudulent financial networks.
