Kolkata, West Bengal: Kolkata Police has taken a significant step towards cleaner and more sustainable policing with the induction of 60 state-of-the-art electric patrolling motorcycles into its fleet.
The new electric motorcycles were flagged off at Lalbazar by Chief Guest Shri P. B. Salim, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited, in the presence of Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Shri Ajay Nand, IPS, senior police officers and other dignitaries.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening police mobility and response capabilities while promoting environmentally responsible policing. The adoption of electric vehicles is expected to contribute towards reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions associated with routine patrolling.
With the introduction of electric patrol motorcycles, Kolkata Police is reinforcing its commitment to efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable policing, contributing to the vision of a cleaner and greener Kolkata.
