Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: The police received a tip-off that narcotics were being used at a private lodging facility located in Nattampatti village, within the Poondi Panchayat—a highland area falling under the jurisdiction of the Kodaikanal Police Station in Dindigul district. Acting on this information, and under the instructions of Dindigul District Superintendent of Police, Jayakumar, a police team conducted a raid on the lodging facility today (October 19, 2026). The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (in-charge of the Kodaikanal sub-division), Elangovian, and led by Kodaikanal Police Inspector Thiruvanantham, along with Sub-Inspectors Sivaraj and Sushtiyappu. During the raid, it was discovered that two individuals were in possession of narcotics: Vishnu Prasad (22)—son of Sukumar, from Pallikkikkol, Wayanad (via Pedagam Post, Kasaragod district, Kerala)—who had been working at the lodging facility for the past year; and Kesan (22)—son of Paul, from Ernakulam, Kerala—who had arrived in Kodaikanal as a tourist on October 17, 2026, and was staying at the same facility. The police recovered and seized the following narcotics from them: 0.08 grams of MDMA, 8 LSD stamps (weighing a total of 0.05 grams), and 30 grams of ganja (cannabis). Following the seizure, both individuals were arrested by the police and brought to the Kodaikanal Police Station. Procedures are currently underway to remand them to judicial custody. In an effort to curb the storage and sale of narcotics to tourists at certain private lodging facilities in the Kodaikanal area, the police—in coordination with the Revenue Department—have sealed seven such establishments. Furthermore, ongoing efforts are being made to identify private lodging facilities operating without proper authorization; these are being subjected to legal action by the relevant departments, and measures to seal them are being actively pursued.
