<![CDATA[VARANASI: As a gesture of selflessness and to save a life, the young Police Constable donated his blood to the baby boy born in Rohtas, Bihar. Mr. Rakesh Saroj (25) a Constable attached to the Chetganj Police Station made a selfless contribution by donating a unit of his B+ blood so that the suffering nine-day-old baby could receive the blood required to save the baby’s life in Varanasi. His senior officials greeted him with a bouquet and he was granted a day’s special leave. His name has also been recommended to the SSP to be considered for Best Constable of the Month title. The father of the baby Md Ashraf Hussain, a native of Rohtas district in Bihar, said his wife delivered a boy at a local Government Hospital on June 9. When the condition of the baby became worse, the hospital authorities referred them to a private facility in Mahmoorganj, Varanasi. When Ashraf brought his son to the private hospital on Tuesday the doctors at the hospital said that the baby immediately needed blood transfusion. The extremely loving father rushed to the IMA blood bank, near the Chetganj Police Station, beyond midnight but the staff refused to take Ashraf’s blood because he recently underwent an eye surgery. The distressed man broke down outside the IMA building and that is when he met the Police Constable, Mr. Rakesh. The Police Constable asked Mr. Ashraf, the child’s father the reason for breaking down and he explained the matter to the Constable, a native of Azamgarh and who joined the Police force only last year. He immediately offered to help. The Police Constable donated a unit of B+ blood to the blood bank and Ashraf took the blood given by the blood bank immediately to the hospital where the blood transfusion was successfully done. Mr. Ashraf told reporters that the police officer donated a unit of his blood to save my son’s life. I will be forever grateful to the police officer who donated his blood to save my son’s life. When the news about what Rakesh did became public Chetganj Police Station Circle Officer Ms. Ankita Singh called him to her office and felicitated him. She sanctioned his leave and forwarded the recommendation to the SSP Mr. Anand Kulkarni.]]>
