<![CDATA[AURANGABAD: The Aurangabad city police, Crime Branch arrested a mobile thief who had committed the crime about a fortnight ago within the limits of Vedantnagar police station. The accused had stolen the mobile phone from a city-based hotel. He was arrested and the police identified him as Altafuddin Khan aged 45 who is a resident of Silk Mill colony. On interrogation, it was found that he works as a public servant, a driver employed with Parbhani-based Panchayat Samiti. A confidential piece of information had been received by one of the personal of the crime branch police teams patrolling the city streets about the movement of a suspect, who had allegedly stolen a couple of cellphones from a student’s hostel. Crime Branch Inspector Mr. Madhukar Sawant said that during the preliminary investigation process the accused who was arrested confessed to the police of having committed the thefts at an Osmanpura based hostel along with his friend. The accused has been handed over to the concerned police station while a manhunt has been launched to nab his accomplice. The police said that investigation is on to ascertain the role of the accused in other mobile thefts, which have been committed in a similar manner from other locations. ]]>
